What is a Beverage Burro?
A beverage burro (aka beer burro in the southwest) is a miniature donkey outfitted with decorated saddlebags to carry drinks, party favors, or gifts at your event. They mingle with guests, pose for photos, and bring a whole lot of cheer.
We also offer "Donkey Drop Ins", without beverage service where the donkeys come decorated for petting, interaction and photo ops to parties and other events.
What do the donkeys carry in their baskets:
Our donkeys can carry items you provide, including beverages, snacks, or merchandise, in their baskets. Some venues have specific rules regarding what may be carried or served, so we recommend confirming details with your venue in advance. We are always happy to work within individual venue rules and regulations to help make your celebration extra special.
Items carried must be provided by the client. Depending on venue approval, donkeys may carry closed bottles or cans, as well as snacks, marketing materials, or party favors for guest distribution.
All Burro Buddies donkey handlers are ServSafe Certified.
What Happens if the donkeys make a mess?
Can Burro Buddies do indoor events?
Our donkeys wear tail bags (often called “Bun Bags”) designed to catch any manure during events. While messes are rare, we always come prepared with a full cleanup kit just in case. Our team promptly cleans and removes any messes, and all manure is taken with us when we leave.
In the unlikely event of urination, we immediately manage it by diluting with water or using absorbent materials to safely scoop and remove the area. Cleanliness and respect for your venue are a top priority at every event.
Yes, we can attend indoor events. Our donkeys are most relaxed and comfortable in outdoor settings, but they are also experienced with indoor environments.
For indoor events, ground-level access or a ramp is required—elevators are not permitted. The donkeys can navigate one or two stairs if needed, but ramps are always ideal. We’re happy to coordinate with your venue to ensure safe, smooth access for everyone involved.
How far in advance should we book?
Can the donkeys participate in photos?
Yes! Photo opportunities are absolutely included. We build in an additional 15 minutes outside of the scheduled service time specifically for photos with the bridal party or another group of your choosing. This allows for relaxed, unhurried photos while keeping the donkeys happy and comfortable.
Do you coordinate with the venue or planners?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for Saturday events, which tend to fill up quickly. Most clients reserve their date several months in advance to ensure availability. While we occasionally have weekday or last-minute openings, early booking is the best way to secure your preferred date and donkeys.
Yes! We coordinate directly with your venue and, if applicable, your wedding planner to ensure everything runs smoothly on your special day. If we have not previously worked at your venue, we will visit in person ahead of time to plan logistics such as access points, surfaces, and flow. Our goal is a seamless, stress-free experience for you, your venue, and your guests.
